25 August 2021 Update

The First Patmos Cinema Festival (PCF 2021) will take place during the first days of September 2021. Its basic principle is the creative and equivalent participation of the local community in the implementation of the festival activities.

The screenings in the summer cinema of the Patmos Cultural Center will be accompanied by parallel actions in various open spaces of Patmos.

Any official directive regarding the safe conduct of cultural events will be considered.

September 16 Update

When at the beginning of July 2020 we were assigned by the Municipality of Patmos the artistic direction of the film festival, everything showed that the threat of Covid19 was in recession. Our weapon against the fear and inaction caused by the pandemic was the planning of cultural activities. We had foreseen the possibility of postponement or cancellation in case of recurrence.

In less than two months we made a strange and nice trip.

The support of the film circuit was immediate, as was Patmia’s response to the creation of volunteer groups.

Together we put together a very beautiful screening program consisting of 24 feature films, 8 documentaries and about 30 short films (a number that will be finalized on 25/8 when the evaluation of the approximately 1,800 films that came from almost every corner of the earth will be completed. ).

On 17/8/2020 the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Patmos took the difficult but correct decision to cancel all cultural events of the summer of 2020, including the 1st Film Festival (2-7 September 2020).

Many helped. We owe them. Steve Krikris for his advice. Directors Dimitris Bavellas and Simos Korexenidis for their motivation and suggestions. Our first sponsors Blue Star & Cinobo. The International Documentary Festival of Peloponnese and Gina Petropoulou who helped with her experience and provided for screening the award-winning films of DFNP 2019. The directors and producers who gave us their films. Katerina Efthimiou and Lamprini Papadimitriou for their involvement in the organization of their production and especially the Patmian volunteers who will surely make a very nice festival in the future.

We thank the Municipality of Patmos for entrusting us and the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Patmos that will be a companion in the journey that is now beginning. It will continue even if we are forced to do so in small and careful steps due to difficulties. The virus will weaken at some point and the steps will become bigger.

    Ενημέρωση / Covid19

    Σήμερα, στις 17/8/2020 το Πνευματικό Κέντρο Δήμου Πάτμου έλαβε τη δύσκολη αλλά σωστή απόφαση για τη ματαίωση όλων των πολιτιστικών εκδηλώσεων, συμπεριλαμβανομένου και του 1ου Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου (2-7 Σεπτεμβρίου 2020).

    Όταν στις αρχές του Ιουλίου μας ανατέθηκε από τον Δήμο Πάτμου η καλλιτεχνική διεύθυνση του φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου όλα έδειχναν ότι η απειλή του Covid19 βρισκόταν σε ύφεση. Το όπλο μας απέναντι στον φόβο και την αδράνεια που προκλήθηκαν από την πανδημία ήταν ο προγραμματισμός των πολιτιστικών δράσεων. Είχαμε προβλέψει την πιθανότητα αναβολής ή ακύρωσης σε περίπτωση υποτροπιασμού. 

    Μέσα από λιγότερο από δύο μήνες κάναμε ένα περίεργο κι ωραίο ταξίδι. 

    Η υποστήριξη του κινηματογραφικού κυκλώματος ήταν άμεση όπως και η ανταπόκριση των Πατμιών στην δημιουργία των ομάδων εθελοντών.

    Όλοι μαζί συνθέσαμε ένα πολύ όμορφο πρόγραμμα προβολών που αποτελείται από 24 ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους, 8 ντοκιμαντέρ και 30 περίπου ταινίες μικρού μήκους (αριθμός που θα οριστικοποιηθεί στις 25/8 που θα ολοκληρωθεί η αξιολόγηση των περίπου 1.800 ταινιών που  ήρθαν από σχεδόν κάθε άκρη της γης). 

    Πολλοί βοήθησαν. Ευχαριστούμε τον Στηβ Κρικρή για τις συμβουλές του. Τους σκηνοθέτες Δημήτρη Μπαβέλλα και Σίμο Κορεξενίδη για την εμψύχωση και τις προτάσεις τους. Τους πρώτους χορηγούς μας Blue Star &  Cinobo. Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Νοτκιμαντέρ Πελοποννήσου και την Τζίνα Πετροπούλου που βοήθησε με την εμπειρία της και παραχώρησε για προβολή τις βραβευμένες ταινίες του ΔΦΝΠ 2019.  Τους σκηνοθέτες και παραγωγούς που μας έδωσαν τις ταινίες τους. Την Κατερίνα Ευθυμίου και την Λαμπρινή Παπαδημητρίου για την εμπλοκή τους στην οργάνωση παραγωγής τους και κυρίως τους Πάτμιους εθελοντές που σίγουρα θα φτιάξουν στο μέλλον ένα πολύ ωραίο φεστιβάλ. 

    Ευχαριστούμε τον Δήμο Πάτμου που μας εμπιστεύτηκε και το Πνευματικό Κέντρο Δήμου Πάτμου που θα είναι συνοδοιπόρος στο ταξίδι που τώρα αρχίζει. Θα συνεχιστεί ακόμα κι αν  είμαστε υποχρεωμένοι να το κάνουμε με μικρά και προσεκτικά βήματα λόγω των δυσκολιών. Ο ιός κάποια στιγμή θα αποδυναμωθεί και τα βήματα θα γίνουν πιο μεγάλα.
